Leica has announced the release of the M11-P Safari Edition, a brand new Leica M11-P with an olive green finish. This new model continues Leica’s long-standing tradition of Safari Edition cameras.

Since the 1970s, Leica has occasionally released select cameras in this distinctive olive green color, known as the “Safari Edition.”

Beyond its unique color, the M11-P Safari features a few subtle design differences compared to the standard black or silver M11-P.

Discover the features of this new Leica M11-P Safari and how it differs from the standard Silver and Black versions !

Leica M11-P Safari: What does it have that the regular M11-P doesn't?

Design and color of the M11-P Safari

The Leica M11-P Safari features a sought-after olive green paint finish with matching leatherette, complemented by silver controls on the top plate. Both the top and base plates are made of solid brass.

As with the original M11-P, the iconic red Leica logo has been removed to maintain a clean, understated design. However, a subtle nod to the brand’s heritage remains with the engraved “Leica Fadenzug” script on the top plate.

Technical specifications of the M11-P Safari: The same as the M11-P?

Indeed, the technical specifications of the M11-P Safari are identical to those of the M11-P.

It incorporates Content Credentials technology, which ensures the authenticity of every photo captured. With each image, the M11-P records tamper-proof metadata via Leica Content Credentials, in compliance with the CAI standard.

Like the M11-P, the M11-P Safari offers 256GB of internal storage along with an additional UHS-II SD card slot.

The camera is equipped with a 60-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and Leica’s Maestro III image processor.

In terms of speed and overall performance, it mirrors the M11-P, including 14-bit DNG recording, a bright-line rangefinder with automatic parallax compensation, and Leica’s legendary M-mount.

The camera also features a 2.95-inch rear touchscreen, an electronically controlled focal plane shutter, continuous shooting at up to 4.5 frames per second, and an ISO range from 50 to 50,000.

It inherits the “Triple Resolution Technology” found in certain Leica models, including the M11-P. This allows photographers to choose between 60, 36, or 18-megapixel resolution and to utilize digital cropping, further enhancing the versatility of Leica’s extensive catalog of M-mount lenses.

Price and availability

The Leica M11-P Safari is now available for pre-order at Leica Boutique Zaventem.

The price of the Leica M11-P Safari is 9250€. For comparison, the standard black and silver M11-P models are priced at 8950€.
