The Summilux-M 50 f/1.4 has been crafted with inspiration from its iconic predecessor. The updated version of this classic lens is hand-built from solid brass and features a detachable round lens hood.
This hood not only protects the lens but also reduces glare and lens flares, enhancing its vintage appeal.
The design of this timeless lens complements a Leica M-Camera perfectly, both in terms of style and performance.
Unmatched – Since 1959
Leica launched the first Summilux lens in 1959, with the name “Summilux” derived from the Latin “summa lux”, meaning “maximum light”. Since then, Summilux has become synonymous with exceptionally fast lenses.
The 50mm Summilux-M standard lens is a favorite among photographers worldwide and has played a key role in capturing countless iconic images throughout the history of photography.
Made in Germany quality
The reinterpretation is based on the optical design of the second Summilux-M 50 f/1.4, produced from 1962 to 2004 with minimal changes. Crafted with precision from 105 individual components, this optical masterpiece results from thoughtful refinements.
Seven lenses, made from advanced glass types and arranged in five groups, allow for close focusing at just 0.7m, delivering the flawless quality expected from a “Made in Germany” lens.
Additionally, its twelve aperture blades create a remarkably smooth and pleasing bokeh.
